In an embarrassment to the government narrative that Nigeria has almost exterminated Boko haram, the terrorist last week attacked a Government Girls Technical College in Dapchi, Yobe State, abducting an almost 100 girls.

Meanwhile the international community has reacted to the kidnapped Dapchi girls with dismay and pledge to support Nigeria.
The United States has condemned the abduction and promised to continue supporting Nigeria’s fight against Boko haram terrorist. Ms. Heather Nauert, Spokesperson of the US Department of State, at a press briefing on Thursday, expressed the US condemnation of the abduction.
“The choice of targets, including schools, markets and places of worship, reflect the brutality of terror organizations…The victims in the attacks were girls who were simply seeking an education”.
The United Kingdom has also condemned the attacked and promised to assist Nigeria militarily in locating and rescuing the girls, according to Major Ian Robertson, the General Advisor, British Military Advisory and Training Team (BMATT) in Nigeria. He added that despite lack of full details of the incident, that the UK is “Monitoring the event quite closely and we are cooperating with the armed forces of Nigeria to see how we can assist”.
