The Nigerian government is not bothered whether the United States and the European Union disagree with it on tagging IPOB a terrorist organization.
With international community reacting signaling disapproval, in Nigeria government proscription of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as a terrorist group, the Nigerian government is once again defending the act.
The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Prosecution, Chief Okoi Obono-Obla, in a statement issued, yesterday denounced IPOB as a terrorist group, at least under the Nigerian Terrorism (Prevention) Act 2013.
He argued that IPOB have killed, intimated, coerce, fight the military, extort money, and committed other crimes which qualifies them as a terrorist organization.
Obono-Obla further implied that it was irrelevant what the US and the EU thought of IPOB, as long as, “a court of competent jurisdiction -Federal High Court has presided over by the Acting Chief Judge, Justice Abdul Kafarati upon an application filed by the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation hinged on Section 2 (1) (a) & (b) of the Terrorism (Prevention) Act granted an order proscribing IPOB!”
