While some ministers are starting to distance themselves from President Buhari’s re-election campaign, other ministers invested in the project are determined to fight to the end.
Allegedly, a Ghana-must go bag of President Muhammadu Buhari 2019 campaign materials were yesterday brought in to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, to be distributed among members.
However, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, indicated lack of interest in distributing the materials, ostensibly as a result of the trending Obasanjo letter and the sentiments of Nigerians who overwhemly seems to have sided with the former president.
According to reports, the SGF also pointed the fact that campaign period has not resumed.
But, Adebayo Shittu, the Minister of Communication, and the spearhead of Buhari’s reelection campaign insisted on sharing the materials, even appearing at the meeting wearing the campaign face cap.
As of the already distributed caps were being retrieved towards the end of the meeting, Shittu tried explaining away his frustration;
“The cap is for politics. It is not for the Federal Executive Council deliberations. The caps have been distributed to all members of FEC. It is a sample for any other person…I know everybody will be involved. Everybody will be guided. People will take decision to support General Buhari in the 2019 elections.” Shittu said.
